As a UK manufacturer, sustainability is an essential design principle in the development of our products. Product lightweighting, efficient production methods, recyclability and use of recycled materials are at the forefront of our criteria, including our next-generation biodegradable fabric.
At UltraGrime we are passionate about making more sustainable changes to our products and production methods. In this blog, we’ve shared how we are doing exactly that.
Next-generation biodegradable fabric:
For over two decades we have been at the forefront of product innovation. We’ve developed an industry-leading fabric made from 100% biodegradable plant-based fibres, so you can be sure you’re not harming the environment with plastic wipes. For years our 100% biodegradable Multiuse Bio product has been paving the way for biodegradable products in the trade industry. Now our large and growing range of biodegradable wipes, with 0% plastic content, are making waves in the retail industry too. From Pet Care to Anti-Bac you can clean with confidence knowing they will have minimal impact on the environment when disposed of.
Alongside our commitment to creating wipes designed from sustainable materials, here are some other ways we are making sure our environmental impact per pack is as low as possible.
Made in the UK:
All our products are produced at our in-house UK manufacturing facility giving us a unique advantage when it comes to managing our energy usage and waste management. This also massively reduces the required transporting miles that your wipes have to travel – ultimately reducing your carbon footprint by decreasing fuel consumption and air pollution.
Reducing Energy Usage:
In the last year, we reduced the amount of essential energy consumed by our factory by 20%. We aim to improve this by a further 15% per year. We constantly work to ensure our factory and operations are running at maximum efficiency to continually reduce our essential manufacturing energy requirements.
Our energy suppliers are committed to achieving net zero energy including using more renewable sources such as wind, solar and low-carbon nuclear power. Over the years we have developed robust monitoring procedures across our site to continually measure and reduce our energy consumption.
Carbon Offsetting:
Our Carbon Footprint matters – that’s why we are committed to offsetting ours to improve our environmental impact. We have taken immediate climate action by offsetting all our operational carbon emissions through our partnership with MoreTrees. We’re supporting projects that are planting trees in some of the most needed communities in Kenya, Madagascar and Haiti. Each year we aim to plant at least 1,200 trees – offsetting 360 tonnes of carbon.

Recycling Commitment
One of our key focuses is on reducing the amount of newly created plastic (often referred to as virgin plastic) used in our packaging without compromising the safety or quality of our products. Our production and packaging methods currently use up to 76% less plastic than commonly used tubs and 80% of our packaging is recyclable and has been made from recycled plastics. We are also working hard to increase our recycling and currently recycle over 50% of our own production waste.
The journey to sustainability is long, but we are taking responsibility for the impact that is within our control, and we will continue to push boundaries in product innovation and manufacturing to continually improve our sustainable efforts.
“We are committed to minimising waste and energy usage, increasing recycling rates and giving back to our planet with every pack, now and for the future.”
